Accommodation Bulalacao
Bulalacao Offers Home Style Accommodation Home Style Accommodation Bulalacao offers you home style accommodation for it is not yet flush with the luxury beach resorts and full-service hotels that typify other tropical island holiday destinations in the Philippines. Home style means that Bulalacao residents have converted part or all of their home into inns, to cater for the growing numbers of tourists who come to taste the pristine beauty of the surrounding beaches, hills and mountains. Home Style accommodation gives you the chance to discover how friendly the people of Bulalacao really are, as you have the chance to share some of their stories and learn from their experiences. Some home style accommodation is fully air-conditioned while some offers fans only - except in the middle of summer, fans are all that are required by most people. Fan rooms are usually priced between Php600 and Php800 per room per night while air-conditioned rooms are typically Php800-Php1,000. Most home style inns have one double bed per room but some are furnished with two, so the opportunity to share your Bulalacao experience with friends, for a very modest price, is real and inviting. Home style inns can be found mainly in Bulalacao town where you have easy access to the municipal office, the fish landing areas, the market and other amenities. Home style beach resorts are also available in Maujao and on Target Island and Tambaron Island. We refer to these as home style beach resorts because they do not offer all of the amenities that one may usually expect from the traditional tropical island holiday beach resort and are not air-conditioned. There is only one real restaurant in Bulalacao: the South Drive Grill. The South Drive Grill is part of the South Drive Inn and food here is succulent and delicious, with a focus on fresh seafood. However, there is no menu and, unless you to state any special request in advance, (preferably a day in advance), you will be served the catch of the day with the fruit and vegetables in season. Brewed coffee is by special request. In the evening the South Drive Grill doubles as a folk and country music lounge where kara-okay is permitted, if your vocal chords need the exercise. The South Drive Grill is also a great place to meet members of the local community groups who most often use it as their meeting place. Check out the Contacts page for details of the best beach resorts and home style inn accommodation in Bulalacao. When considering accommodation the modern traveller will also consider communications with the outside world. In Bulalacao at present, only the Smart mobile phone network is relatively robust for voice and SMS traffic and there is only one Internet Cafe in Bulalacao - at the Bulalacao Municipal Office - and its performance is not the best advertisement for Smart Bro. If you travel West from the town then even the Smart network has many dead spots until you come in sight of San Jose; Globe has so many dead spots that most Bulalacao residents nevertheless use Smart as their preferred telecommunications carrier. If you were thinking to use the mobile Smart Bro or Globe Internet service for laptop computers then don't - loading a page to answer an email is like watching paint dry, and there are other technical issues that sometimes prevent email communications altogether. Please send a link to this page to both Smart and Globe with the request that they make good on all of their implied promises for "nationwide coverage" . . . there are 31,000 people in the entire municipality of Bulalacao who are waiting for those promises to be delivered. |
